Larry Van Veen
January 27, 2012
Larry D. Van Veen, 70, passed away Friday, January 27, 2012, at his home, with his wife Carol by his side.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, February 9, 2012, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway.
Larry Duane Van Veen was born February 9, 1941, in Pella, Iowa, to Theodore and Viola (Ver Steeg) Van Veen. Larry worked as a book binder for many years at Meredith, which later became Meredith Burda, RR Donnelly, and Omni Care. On December 12, 1980, he was united in marriage to Carol Lettington.
Larry was a member of the Cyclone Corvette Club. He enjoyed driving as fast as he could get away with. He took great pride in keeping his cars spotless. He also relaxed while playing his guitar. He enjoyed working in the yard, which turned into doing the neighbor's yard work as well. Most of all he loved spending time with Carol and his family.
Larry was survived by his wife, Carol; and siblings, Shirley (Larry) Morgan, Melvina (Vernon White) Breuklander, and Stan (Ann) Van Veen. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Carl Wayne.
Memorials may be directed to the family.

Carol, I was so sorry to read about Larry's death. I hope you remember me, we worked at the college doing billing/coding. I now live in Lake City and would love to hear from you. I would assume you are busy now, with legal stuff, but in the future if you want to chat give me a call 712-464-3118. I will be thinking of you, and sending prayers, too. Sincerely, Rhonda Hanks

I am so sorry to hear of Larry's passing. Although I didn't know him personally, I know that he was a good man because he married a wonderful lady. As time passes, may the memories give you peace and joy. Know that you continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

Carol,
Our hearts are heavy to know that Larry has passed. Of course, we are so sorry for your loss and for the struggles that both of you have had to endure. Please know your friends hold you up in prayer during this time and beyond. We've always been extremely fond of you and Larry and will continue to have wonderful memories of Corvette trips and events throughout the years. There was no sense of humor quite like Larry's. Let us get in line with many others to offer whatever we can do for you if needed.
