I was with Eleanor on just a few occasions but I remember what a wonderful sense of humor she had and such an out-going personality. I remember my mother, Jean Stewart, and our dear family friend, Catherine Mick, playing bridge once a week with Eleanor for many, many years. They loved their bridge games and took them very seriously!
My mother and Catherine died in 2011 and and my sisters and I talk of them often. I know Eleanor's family will do the same with their many fond memories. We are all fortunate they were in our lives for so many good years.
Sincerely,
Sally Long, West Des Moines

My deepest sympathy to the family of Eleanor Newell. I have known Eleanor for many years through our association in GH chapter of PEO. She was always a happy lady and saw the good in everyone she knew. She so appreciated her friends and their caring for her welfare in these last years. Eleanor will be missed by one and all.

What a beautiful life Eleanor had! What a legacy she leaves behind. Our family has been blessed to know her thru her daughter Nancy and Jonathan and Naiyana. I remember her sweet and tender nature towards her grandbabies...oh how I can relate now. As I heard in a Michael W. Smith song titled "Welcome Home", I share these words that have helped me see loss from heaven's perspective:
"I can't believe that I'm here having to say goodbye...
And I can barely see you through these tears I cry...
I close my eyes...
I CAN HEAR THE SOUND
AS ANGELS GATHER ROUND
SAYING THIS IS WHERE YOU BELONG.
WELCOME HOME!
There are the days that my heart aches wishing you were here.
But I know where you are the hurt and the pain disappear.
There's no more tears.
WHAT A LOVELY SOUND...
ANGELS ALL AROUND...
SAYING THIS IS WHERE YOU BELONG.
WELCOME HOME!"
Our hearts cannot truly know your pain at this loss, but we are here for you.
The angels have gathered around...Welcome home Eleanor! We will see you again one day:-)
With love,
Sue/Ski/Cori/Scott

To the family of Eleanor Newell. It is with great sorrow to learn of your Mother's death. She was a great friend and always upbeat and so happy to see you. May I extended my deepest sympathy at this time. Don you have been a good son and Nancy many times she has talked of your love and her grandkids, and now great grandkids. May she now rest in peace with the father in Heaven.
