Dorothy McGee, 82, died Monday, January 23, 2012, surrounded by her children. A funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2012, at Christ the King Catholic Church, with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
Dorothy was born on November 9, 1929, in Cresco, IA, to Charles and Ida Burgess. She graduated from Cresco High School in 1948. On November 9, 1950, she married Leo McGee, who was serving in the US Navy in Norfolk, VA. Dorothy enjoyed working with youth bowlers everywhere she and Leo lived. She enjoyed working in her yard, spider weaving, shirt painting, crossword puzzles, soap operas and was an avid Elvis fan. She also enjoyed Bingo and slots and her hand held game machines. Dorothy and Leo went to Bullhead City, AZ upon retirement. They spent winters there for a number of years.
Dorothy is survived by sons, Douglas (Beverly) of Gibsonville, NC, Michael (Lois) of Des Moines, and David (Dianne) of Iowa City; daughters, Debra McGee of Clemmons, NC, Brenda (Randy) Terry, and Patricia (Robert) Gibson, both of Des Moines, Rhonda (Rick) Hansen of Clear Lake; grandchildren, Jonathan McGee, Jessica Donoho, Zachary Gibson, Lindsey Gibson, Ryan McGee, Dylan McGee, Melanie Brickman, and Ana Hansen; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Donna) Burgess and Charles (Georgina) Burgess, both of Cresco; and sisters, Emma Jean (Martin) Koudelka of Cresco, and Charlotte (Elmer) Sorenson of Decorah. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sisters, Elta Jean Burgess, Alice May Whalen, Helen Houden, RoseMary Ott, Charlene Hageman, and Corrine Arnold.

Dorothy you will be missed You were a lady thru and thru. She never made you feel like a stranger always welcomed you and said hi whenever she seen you.
Leo and Dorthy you will be greatly missed we loved you lots. You are both reunited together in Gods house.
