Isabella Cole, 86, passed away Friday, January 20, 2012, at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, Iowa. She was born December 7, 1925 in Hocking, Iowa, the daughter of Francis and Margaret (Lang) Slack.
Isabella attended grade school in Williamson, Iowa, and high school in Chariton, Iowa. She moved to Des Moines in 1950, and retired from Firestone after 35 years of service.
Isabella is survived by her children, James (Judy) Griffin, Margaret “Sue” Hartman, and Catherine Griffin, daughter-in-law, Valerie Kottke-Cole; and her brothers, Francis “Sonny” (Marilyn) Slack, Dewayne Slack, and Milford “Mick” Slack. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Jeri (Bernie) Kriner and Charlene Cole; son, Charles Cole; granddaughter, Lori Stevens; and brothers, James, Joseph and David Slack.
Memorial services will be 12 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston in loving memory of Isabella.

I have been blessed to have been your granddaughter- In-law. I will miss you greatly. I have so many wonderful memories of you. My most favorite memory was david and my first wedding. When you and my grandma Barbara sat downstairs at the reception and were smoking cigarettes and chatting to one another like long lost friends. I hope you two run into one another in heaven and have many more talks. Your memory will live on and you will always hold a special place in my heart. David loves you very much and will never forget your talks and special memories together. He is sad you were taken so soon, but thankful for the time he had with you.
You will be missed. We love you Granny! Until we meet again.

Granny, you will be missed so much and thought of as your memory lives on. I will miss seeing you every year for the family Christmas's and the family reunion's. I know the grand kids always enjoyed your special presents! We love you and miss you.

Granny was a wonderful soul and will be so greatly missed. She lives on in our memories and thoughts always putting a smile on our faces. DJ and I are thinking of all of you during this time and sending our love to you. God bless.

Just read Sis's obit in the DSM Register. The picture looks just the way I remember her. I won't make it to the services but did get the address for Mercy Hospice and will send a memorial in her name. She used to call once in awhile before she went to Bishop Drumm - it was always good to hear from her. Her services are the day before I lost Joe. Wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you.
