Jean Hendricks, 70, passed away January 20, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jean was born June 6, 1941 in Des Moines. She graduated from East High in 1959 and married Harold Hendricks on March 4, 1960. Jean enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, camping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her husband, Harold; children, Brad (Denise) Hendricks, Bryon (Lori) Hendricks and Betty “Sis” (Mike McClellan) Elliott; grandchildren, Shelby Hendricks, Drew Hendricks, Maya Hendricks, Darby Elliott, Makaila Hendricks, Libby Elliott and Melissa McClellan; great-granddaughter, Kendall Pham; and her siblings, Ray Telford, Julie Valdez and Danny Telford. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion “Bill” and Betty Lou Keil; and her granddaughter, Allison Elliott.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Hope Lutheran Church, 3857 E. 42nd St. with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church on E 42nd or American Cancer Society.

Your Mom was always fun to talk with. I sure enjoyed having tea with her and gabbing about the latest.
It was nice of her to loan me the rake. She made me feel so welcome and talking about how we used to borrow a cup of sugar or coffee, and how people don't do that anymore.
I will miss her.

Dear Hendricks Family,
You are in our hearts and prayers during this difficult time. We have such fond memories of Jeannie, she will always have a special place in our hearts. I remember so clearly the day I was a Denise and Brad's house and she kept asking me who I was...I told her Dawn Smith and she wanted to know who my parents were, I told her Moe and Charlotte Hendrix and she just flipped. Turns out her parents Betty and Bill were friends of my parents and Jeannie had babysat my sisters and me. What a small world. We hope you can find comfort in remembering how much Jeannie loved each of you and how that love makes you who you are today.

Dear Jeannie,
I have known you since Denise and Brad have been together. You have always treated me like family when I have been there.
I can hear your voice and your laugh as if you were there.
You raised a wonderful,loving family. That is a mother's greatest accomplishment. You have left a legacy of love and joy and values that can be seen in all your children and grandchildren. What a beautiful gift you gave.
God must be so proud of you that you will live on thru kindness and love in all they are. They will miss you as so many of us will but they will lean on each other for strength and support. They will be there for each other and take care of Harold for you. All the wonderful family memories will fill the void left in their hearts as they think of you each day with love and affection. Knowing that they love you with all their heart and soul is a beautiful testament to what a wonderful mother and wife you were.
How blessed your children are they had you to raise them so they could pass on to their children the love they were given.
Please watch over your family from above now that God has given you the wings of an angel.
Today under a beautiful blue sky a hawk with outstretched wings flew right above my head as it sailed on the wind. I leaned my head back, closed my eyes for a second, and it made me realize how much I appreciate life.
