Elva F. McCombs, 93, was born February 9, 1918, in Marysville, Iowa, the daughter of Owen and Minnie (Pettijohn) Godfrey. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Skiff Hospice Monarch Wing in Newton.
Elva is survived by her son, Dennis McCombs; daughters, Gwen Thomas and Jan (David) Mosby; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Irvin J. McCombs; her son-in-law, Bob Thomas; her daughter-in-law, Mary McCombs; her granddaughter, Missy Thomas; her grandson, Ronnie McCombs; three sisters; two brothers; and her parents.
Graveside services will be held at 1 pm., Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Newton Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Skiff Hospice Monarch Wing in loving memory of Elva.

We both send our condolences and prayers to my dear cousins and family members for their loss of their loving mother/grandmother/Great grandmother and our aunt. I will always have fond memories of time spent with you all during summer vacations. We regret that we can not attend her services as we are in Arizona at this time.
May the Pease of our Lord be with you all.
