Service Details
Michael “Mike” Van Dama passed away January 13, 2012, at the Marshalltown Medical Surgery Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service.
Mike will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and for his strong work ethic and dedication. He was a painter by trade.
He is survived by his wife, Christina; son, Reggie Lopez (Amy Wells); daughter, LaKae Lopez (D.J. Pickens); grandchildren, Jalen Lopez and Nick Cristian; Godson, Raymond Thomas Lopez; parents, Connie and Jim Stevens; sisters, Alisa (Kert) Rector and Amber (Mike) McCord; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Chris.....I am so sorry to hear about mike. We moved to texas and just found out about it. I have tried to find your numer and even looked on facebook for the kids, to get your number. I am so sorry. Mr and Mrs Stevens, I didn't know Mike, but I deliver your mail to your residents. James, Mike has your same great smile and happiness that you do! The day you seen me back on my route you gave me such a happy warm welcome. That tells me that Mike has two great parents that taught him to be caring just like you two are. Your letter carrier. Death of a child is never easy, at a young age.

I've thought about you the past few days. Thinking about you as a baby. Doesn't seem like 46+ years ago that I drove your Mom to the hospital. So many years when we weren't in touch. So glad got to spend time with you last year. My sympathies to your Mom and Dad, Alisa and Amber and Chris, Reggie and LaKae.

Reggie and family, I am so sorry for your loss. What a shocking thing to go through. You will always have alot of memories of your dad to get you through each day. Don't ever forget those, even if there were a few not so good. I can still hear my mom and dad's voices. Someday you will all be reunited. Take care of each other through this and each day will get a little easier. Live life to the fullest. Take care.

"Little Mike" was a long time friend and a family member of ours. Our deepest sympathy goes to loved ones and family. My family & I will miss him forever. He has always been a part of our lives and will always be with us in spirit. "Little Mike" may be gone, but he will NEVER be forgotten. May he be at peace now. We love him dearly and we will hold onto the memories and how he touched our lives. I love you Mike, It was the best time ever!
