Loretta Roe Myrick passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at Bright Kavanagh in Des Moines. She was born on July 8, 1914, in Des Moines to Ora and Emmett Roe.

She lived in Boone and worked as the Boone County Deputy Treasurer. She had one child, Beverly Belle. She married Lloyd Myrick in 1948 and together they built homes in Boone. In 1958 they moved to Gainesville, FL, where they were home builders. In 1972 they moved to Cedar Key, FL, where Loretta was a real estate broker until Lloyd’s death in 1983. After living in Hawaii and California, she moved back to Des Moines in 1995. She was a Foster Grandparent at Park Avenue Elementary School for over five years. In 1998, Loretta moved to Wakonda Manor Apartments.

Loretta is survived by her grandchildren, Matt (Janice) Carpenter and Michelle (Garfield) Hinds; four great-grandchildren, Cynnamon, Joseph, Daniel and Jaiden; two nieces, Barbara (Charles) Westburg and Laurie Roe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd; her daughter, Beverly; brother Loren; niece, Sandi and two great-grandsons.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A visitation will begin an hour prior to the service.
