Ingeborg Carlson, 94, died May 8th, 2007 at Wesley Acres Health Center in Des Moines, IA. She was born January 16, 1913, the daughter of Hartwig and Laura Hegna in Milwaukee, WI. She moved to Des Moines, IA at age 3 and lived there until her death. Following graduation from East High School, she worked at USF & G Insurance for ten years. On June 9, 1939 she married Axel Carlson and became a full time homemaker. They were married for forty years until his death in 1980. Ing was a member of Grandview Lutheran Church for 91 years. She also was a member of the Norden Singers Auxiliary and the East High Alumni Association. She enjoyed her family, traveling, cooking, Iowa sports, crocheting and playing cards.
Ing is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Donald) Armington of Clive, and Joan (Edward) Redalen of Marshalltown; her sister, Ruth (Robert) Trotter of Des Moines; four granddaughters, Amy (Jeff) Bauer, Tracy (Bryan) McMurray, Jennifer (Tim) Lundberg, and Kirsten (Joe) Schmit; nine great- grandchildren, Jordan, Ashlynn and Jase Bauer; Tyler and Trevor McMurray; Luke and Alexandra Lundberg; and Colin and Ryan Schmit. She is also survived through marriage by two grandchildren, Todd (Alice) Redalen, and Krisha (John) Clopton; and five great-grandchildren, Seth, Sam and Ben Redalen, and Andrew and Alex Clopton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Axel; her parents; two sisters, Margaret and Grace; and one brother, Robert.
Visitation will be on Monday May 14, 2007 from 6-8 PM at Hamilton’s Funeral Home at 605 Lyon Street. Services will be at Grandview Lutheran Church, E. 13th & Hull Ave. on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 11:00 AM followed by a luncheon.
Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Grandview Lutheran Church, Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown, Iowa Health Hospice in Des Moines, or Wesley Acres Austin Center.
