Clair Max Frederick, 83, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Prairie Hills Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, with burial to follow at Norwalk Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Max was born June 18, 1928 to Arthur and Francis Frederick in Osceola. He graduated from Lincoln High School and served in the US Navy during World War II. Max was a tire builder for Armstrong Tire & Rubber for over 30 years and retired in 1986. He was a long time member of the Eagles Lodge #109 and enjoyed painting, camping, and spending time with his family.

Max is survived by his children, Douglas (Francine) Frederick and Darcy (Jeff) Williams; step-daughters, Connie (Bruce) Whitacre and Cindy (Ted) Austin; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna; second wife, Phyllis; two grandchildren; and sister, Betty Clark.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Eagles Lodge #109, 6767 Bloomfield Road, Des Moines, IA 50320.
