John Evans

John Evans, 90, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012, at University Park Nursing & Rehabilitation. Burial will take place Wednesday, January 18, 2012, beginning at 11:00 am, at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter.

John was born December 15, 1922, in Independence, Missouri. He served honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII.

John enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing dominos and had a special love for animals. He retired from Meredith Publishing where he had worked as a janitor for many years. After his retirement he started Johnny’s Hauling, a light maintenance and hauling company. John was a member of the VFW Iowa Post #0374, Elks Hawkeye Club, and Bethel A.M.E. Church.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeweldeen and his son, John Jr. He is survived by his nephew, Robert Trumbo and a host of other extended family and friends.
