Janet Coe

Janet Lee Coe, 70, of Des Moines passed away at Bright Kavanagh House on Thursday, January 5, 2012.

Janet was born January 27, 1941, in Keosauqua, Iowa, to Maurice and Fern Gwinnup. She graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1959, attended the Kirksville State Teachers College in Missouri for one year, and moved to Des Moines where she met and later married Gary Coe on January 5, 1963.

Janet worked for Farmland/Nationwide Insurance for 31 years. In 2003, she was able to enjoy retirement with her husband and traveled the U.S. extensively. She loved reading, good food, and people. Janet also enjoyed the time spent with her husband at their Northern Minnesota lake cabin.

Janet is survived by her beloved husband, Gary Ronald Coe; daughter, Jeanne Rafdal (John); son, Terry Coe (Valerie); granddaughters, Jadie Rae Rafdal and Adrienna Coe; mother, Fern Gwinnup; and brother Terry Gwinnup (Mary).

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, Rev. Douglas Harding officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua. The family will receive friends from 10 am to 11am Thursday, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
