Melvin Rumbaugh, 66, passed away Monday, January 2, 2012, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Queener Rumbaugh; children, Melvin, David, Richard, Danny, John, Robert and Chandra Rumbaugh; brother, Jim Rumbaugh; sisters, Mary Rumbaugh, Rose Vissar and Lita May Thomas; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

uncle butch had a quality that i wish this whole world had more off!!
not once did I hear him belittle nor shame anyone going threw lifes changes no matter what life threw him, my uncle knew " that too shall pass"

Butchie... I have missed him for years!!! I am the daughter of Tom & Linda Cross. I just found a relative of his that goes to school with my son at Lincoln. When I grew up I had plans to marry Butchie! :-) I am so sorry for your loss.

I'd want to express my sympathy to the family of Butch.I only met him once at a family reunion but I still remember him. This is a hard time for you as it is for me and all you can do is remember the good time.

I know that there is not one person out there that would have trouble in comprehending just how sad and down u feel and to think that no one is around, but I am here to give u my deepest condolences..
I know that it is hard to image just how you feel for the loss of the one that you love, its like it's not real, yet it's so sorrowful and you need to gather your strength from the man above. I am hoping that from my heart your pain will decrease and you will gain your strength again to be strong, for that is all that he would want you to do..
I pray that you will get inner peace that you seek by believing in your faith and God will send you great blessing.
Someone we love has passed away and it hurts and we ache, but our life has to go on, Butch and all our other beloved would want us to heal and not hurt, although it is a normal way that we mend the greatest pain in our hearts, we so need this time to remember and mourn before when can move on.
Let us help each other to find a brighter tomorrow, I love you.
