Robert Kowalski

Robert Charles Kowalski, 84, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at home surrounded by his
family. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. A visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in New York.

Robert was born August 21, 1927 in Evanston, IL to Joseph and Natalie Kowalski. He attended and graduated from Iona College. Robert was an officer in the US Navy. He worked in advertising for his entire life; first for an advertising agency and then for various magazines in advertising sales and retired from Meredith Corporation. Robert had many interests, among them – volunteering at Mercy Hospital, playing bridge at the Bridge House, golf, football and music.

Robert is survived by his wife, Jackie; his sister, Jane Cote’ of Maine; his children, Susan (Neil) Stockel of Rye Brook, NY, Robert Jr. (Kim) of Mahopac, NY, James (Geryl) of Cross River, NY, Mary (Vito) Racanelli of New Fairfield, CT; his step-children, Renae (Rick) Mabie, Tim Brown, Valerie (Mike) Krafka all of Des Moines; his sixteen grandchildren; his seven great grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces and his best friend, Nick Distasio.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joseph Jr.; first wife, Betty and his step-son, Jim Brown.
