Robert "Bob" Thomas

Robert “Bob” Thomas, 71, passed away at his home Wednesday, December 28, 2011.

Bob was born September 6, 1940, in Des Moines to Glenn and Carrie (Hurst) Thomas. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Bob worked as a truck mechanic and welder for various companies. He enjoyed guns and target shooting. Bob loved pickups, and his favorite hobby was restoring his ’64 Ford pickup.

Bob is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gwen; daughter, Angie (Brian) Cogley; grandchildren, Jennifer (Doug) Engle, Brandon Cogley and McKenzie Cogley; brother, Larry Thomas; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Kay Thomas; sister, Millie Cunningham; parents; and nephews, Chris Cunningham and Ronnie Best.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011, at Mitchellville Cemetery.
