Richard “Dick” Siedel passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born on September 3, 1951, to Alice (Miller) and Gaylord Siedel in Des Moines.
After 37 dedicated years, Dick retired from Mid-American Energy in 2007.
Dick is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sandi; his children, Ryan Siedel, Adam Siedel and Lindsay (Dustin) Deitrick; his grandchildren, Mindy, Cloey and Davin Deitrick; his sisters, Susan Seitner and Sandy (Lloyd) Boers; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, with a Celebration of Life to begin at 7:30 p.m. and continue at Orlondo’s on Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Dick’s family through US Bank in the "Donation Fund for Richard Siedel" account.

Sorry to hear about Dick's passing. Meet him a Charlies Filling Station years ago and always had fun talking to him. I thought he resembled Bob Newhart. Also he always had good mushrooms during the season. God Bless Dick and your family. Rest in Peace my friend.

I was startled and saddened to see Dick's obituary in the Friday newspaper. My sons, Perry and Lon, grew up next door to him as well as sisters Susan and Sandy on Birch Lane, and he was several months younger than Lon. I wouldn't have expected to see an obituary for Dick during my lifetime, and I'm sorry for whatever caused what seems to me to be a premature death.--Sherry Hutchison

Sandi: I am not sure you will remember me, but I was one of the "Bob's" that played softball with Dick ( along with Kevin McKay, Rich Holbrook, etc.) I always appreciated Dick's sense of humor and enjoyed the time I got to spend with him. I just found out about his passing and would have loved to attend the service, but word got to me too late. My thoughts and prayers are with you and you family. I was so sad to see that Richard had passed. I knew him from being a southsider and going to Lincoln. I use to see him at our kid's school events in more recent years. My regards to the family, Dorothy Tucci Parker, class of '70

We are so sorry for your loss and we are sending prayers and hugs your way. We will never forget when Dick and Sandy took in Danny like a son back in high school. We love your whole family like you are our own family. It's hard to say good-bye so early, but I hope you are somewhat comforted by the many warm memories you had together. We will never forget Dick's laugh and sense of humor.

ON A SOCIAL LEVEL AND ALWAYS ENJOYED THEN.i will be unable to attend

KJ and I are both very saddened by Dick's passing. He was one of the nicest and "funniest" persons we have ever been associated with. He truly will be missed by all who had the opportunity to spend time with him as he had an infectious personality and a zest for life.
