Service Details
Ruth I. Erickson, 89, died Sunday, December 25, 2011. A memorial service with her cremains will be held later this spring.
Ruth was born November 15, 1922 to Wilbert and Alzora Rodenbaugh in Clearfield, SD. She retired from Northwestern Bell in 1982 as an operator and enjoyed fishing, flowers, animals, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 70 years, Ray; children, Patricia Horrigan and John Raymond (Margaret Ann) Erickson Jr.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Randy Horrigan; three brothers; and four sisters.

Sending warm thoughts to Aunt Patti, our Papa, and my Dad and prayers for peace. Our Nana Ruth was a very special lady. In her day she carried herself with a wonderful grace. We are blessed because she taught us (her grandkids) how to appreciate nature. I'll never forget the excitement we had when we saw a Walking Stick walking on the bike path at Saylorville. And the days fishing on the banks of the river. Like Mark said, many wonderful memories that will be cherished forever. Nana encouraged me and my sister Jen as we performed Barbara Mandrell songs in their living room. We'll always appreciate the contribution she made to our lives. Nana - you will be missed dearly. Love you, and please look after Papa. He loves you so very much.

hi, nana i hope they're taking good care of you up in heaven. Im so glad that i got to have you and papa as my grandparents. Forever i will remember the fun times when we had in my youth. Going fishing, going up to cottonwood and the sylorville area, as well as going for a ride with you, papa, jeff, and i in that big old red car of papas. I'm so glad that i got to visit you several times within the last 6 months. I know that you really liked when i brought my dog buttinns over to your apartment those couple times. In closing i just want to say i will never forget the amazing life experiences that you and papa gave me. Your spirit will live on with me for eternity.

Dear Uncle Ray, Patty, and Johnny,
I was very sad to learn of Aunt Ruth's passing. She lived a long and full life and 70 years of marriage is such a wonderful legacy to leave behind to all your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. I have very fond memories as a young girl walking from our house on York St. up to Guthrie to visit the second story of the duplex, being fascinated with Ruth's bird, and dancing to Elvis Presley while Ruth watched me and laughed with delight. Her laughter and calling me "Zippy" will always remain as a wonderful memory. Thinking of all of you at this sad time and sending love and prayers.

Aunt Zoe was my great aunt and lived in Guthrie Center, Iowa.I remember her name and I had 2 of Jack's children, Judy and Donnelle in school. I have so few of the older people in the family still living Would like to meet or correspond if any would like. I'm a retired teacher and live in Davenport, Iowa. My address is rrlemiller@AOL.com

Ray and Family,
We are all so sorry to hear about Ruth and wanted to extend our sincere sympathies. You both were so good to all of us and such good neighbors and friends. We have very fond memories of Ruth caring for her yard and flowers... and referring to us as the Waltons. May God Bless all of you, John, Doris and the rest of the Craig Clan.

I formerly lived in Guthrie Center and am now living in Iowa Falls. I am the neiece of Jack and Wilma Rodenbaugh. We wanted to extend our sympathy to the family of Ruth Erickson. We're sure she will be missed.

Uncle Ray, John & Patty,
You have my deepest sympathy. 70 years together is amazing ! So many memories.
I also have wonderful memories of us kids coming to your home to visit with Mom & Dad. And of dad walking to your home with Cindy when she was a baby !

It is with extreme sorrow that we read about Ruthie's passing in this morning's paper. We hope you are all aware that we have such wonderful memories--we will always cherish them.
