Gladys Eileen Vorrath

Gladys Eileen Vorrath, 101, went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2011 at University Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Gladys was born October 16, 1910, in Adair County, Washington Township, Iowa, to Howard Charles Vorrath and Effie Eliza (Brawdy) Vorrath.

Gladys graduated from the Bridgewater, Iowa, High School. She moved to Des Moines and was employed by the Rollins Hosiery Mills. At her retirement she was employed by the Des Moines Credit Bureau.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Vorrath; niece, Connie Rhine, both from Creston, Iowa; two great-nieces; and four great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Emil Glade; brothers, Howard and Ralph; and her nephew, Rolland Vorrath.

Gladys was a 70+ year member of the Grandview Park Baptist Church, and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church.

The family will greet friends Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 2 p.m., followed by funeral services at 2:30 p.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery.
