Muriel Brill

Muriel Brill, 96, passed away peacefully December 22, 2011, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. She was born June 17, 1915, in Louisville, Illinois, to John and Nettie Kirkpatrick. She graduated from Dana High School in 1934 and from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in 1938 as a Registered Nurse. Muriel married LeRoy Brill in 1939.

Murial formerly attended Union Park Presbyterian Church and was a current member of Union Park Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school and Bible school, and was a Girl Scout troop leader. She enjoyed gardening, all kinds of arts and crafts, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Muriel is survived by her children, Kirk (Monica) Brill, Barbara (Richard) Moore, and Cyndy (Rod) Hagan; four grandchildren; one step-grandson; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Bernadine Kouri; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Brill.

A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Activity Fund at The Gardens at Luther Park or to Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
