Ruby Hart

Ruby Elaine Hart, 69, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2011 at Ft. Des Moines United Methodist Church, 6205 SW 9th Street, with burial following at Elm Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 22 at the church.

Ruby was born November 18, 1942, in Indianola to Joe and Nina Hart. She graduated from Indianola High School, farmed for a time and then became a cook for different restaurants and nursing homes. She also managed a motel which was owned by her parents. Ruby enjoyed watching sports, especially Iowa State Cyclones basketball and football. She also enjoyed sewing, making latch hook rugs, fabric painting and crafts of all kinds. Her favorite music artists were Elvis and Johnny Cash. Ruby was also an animal lover, especially cats and dogs.

Ruby is survived by her beloved cat, Misty; niece, Corky Hart; niece, Joyce (Bob) Poore Berkenes and children and grandchildren, Tiffany Berkenes, Cory (Crystal) Berkenes, Emerson,, and Elsie; niece, Julie Poore and children, Lief (Erica) Christensen and Patrick Poore-Christensen; niece, Cheryl (George) Hunsinger and children, Sabrina, Candice, and Lacey; nephew, Joe (Karen) Hart and children, Matt and Cassie; niece, Phyllis Hart and child, James Atencio; niece, Patty (Jim) Haller and children, Tiffany, Andrea, and John; niece, Kellie (Max) Villarreal and children, Gibby, Bailie, and Hallie; nephew, Doug (Jennifer) Hart and child, Matthew; nephew, Randy Pearson; nephew, Russell (Anne) Pearson and children, Jacob and Nicole; a host of cousins; and friends.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen Pearson, Thelma Poore and brother, Charles Hart.
