Dorothy Gulling, 81, entered into Eternal Life on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2011, at the Altoona Christian Church, with burial to follow at the Altoona Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at the Altoona Christian Church. Dorothy’s request was to wear something red to her service, if possible.

Dorothy Ann Murrow was born August 25, 1930, and was the daughter of Ward and Jennie (Hotka) Murrow. She graduated from Mitchellville High School and attended Drake University. On September 30, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert Dale Gulling. The couple was blessed with three children.

Dorothy was a wife, mother, homemaker, and also made many outfits and clothing for friends and family members. She was a member of the Altoona Christian Church and spent time singing, playing the organ, and participating in the church choir. She enjoyed camping and traveling with her family, and a 50-year friendship with their card club group. Most of all she loved spending time with Bob, her children, and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Bob; children, Douglas (Judy) Gulling, Stephen (Carrie) Gulling, and Karen (Gary) Haines; grandchildren, Lindsay (Lonnie) McLain, Maggie Gulling, Kelsey Gulling, Amy Gulling, Melissa Gulling, Sarah Haines, Samuel Haines, and four step-grandchildren; sister, Virginia (Don) Thomas; brother, Donald (Margie) Murrow; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
