Patricia Ann Gourd

Patricia Ann Gourd, 69, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011. The funeral service will be Friday, December 23, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, at 12 noon. Visitation will be one hour prior.

Patricia was born on June 27, 1942, in Des Moines, IA, to Elic and Edith Lowe. She worked for many years at Northwestern Bell and Principal Financial Group. But she found her niche at Broadlawn’s Hospital as a ward clerk where she absolutely thrived! She retired from Broadlawn’s in 2009. Pat was very artistic and for a time operated her own ceramic shop. She loved to paint, draw and create flowers from cardstock. She was an extremely detail oriented and an organized person. Pat was a published author with her book Dragon Soup. She was a great storyteller and delighted her grandchildren and nieces and nephews with her tales. Pat had a very strong Christian faith. She was loved and appreciated for her common sense, listening skills and her non-judgemental and non-threatening persona. Her heart, arms and lap were open to all.

Survivors include her son, Bill (Kathy) Gourd; daughter, Jean (Rick) Anand; granddaughters, Ann and Becca Gourd and Erica and Angel Anand; brother, Marvin (Hazel) Lowe; and numerous nieces, nephews and their children.
