John Lawrence

John C. Lawrence passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Mercy Hospice House in Johnston, Iowa. John was born August 24, 1922, to Abraham and Elma Lawrence in Brownville, Nebraska. He married Virginia Ann Mobley in 1945, and to this union two children, John Jr., and Patricia were born.

John lived a full and productive life. His occupations were varied. He was a teacher, principal, superintendent, college professor, farmer, and retired from John Deere Des Moines Works as a reliability engineer.

John loved to garden and enjoyed various recreational sports. He was always engaged in some activity. He was an avid reader and loved to engage friends in a good, healthy debate.

John leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Virginia; son John (Fran); daughter Patricia (Jack) Valenti; granddaughters, Hannah and Carmel; great-grandson, Blake; and many relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 22, 2011, at the family plot at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Brownville, Nebraska.

The family requests memorials to be sent to Mercy Hospice House in Johnston, Iowa.
