Evelyn Edith Elder was born on May 2, 1920 to William “Howell” Elder and Ida May Sampson-Elder. Evelyn was a 12th generation direct descendent of John Alden and Captain Myles Standish who arrived in the United States on the Mayflower.

Evelyn graduated from Woodward High School, Woodward, Iowa in 1938 and Thompson School of Beauty in Des Moines, Iowa in 1942. She married Martin A. Anderson in 1945 where they built and operated the Anderson Feed Mill in Jefferson, Iowa. Evelyn owned and operated her own beauty salons for many years both in Iowa and Minnesota. She was recently names the Volunteer of the Year in her hometown of Menahga, Minnesota after 20 years of service.

Evelyn always enjoyed the outdoors and the wildlife around her home on Shell River in Minnesota and enjoyed horses, dogs, snowmobiling, and winter fishing. Evelyn will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
