Kathryn Herbst

Kathryn Louise Herbst, 78, lost her courageous battle with cancer and went to be with her Lord on December 12, 2011.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm Monday, December 19, 2011, at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm Sunday, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.

Kathryn was born July 3, 1933, in Prole, Iowa, to Carroll and Bernice Voss Alexander. She was dedicated to her family and made us her top priority. She spent most of her life in Des Moines, Iowa and retired from Maurice’s at Merle Hay Mall after 30+ years. Her grandchildren will miss their “cookie” Grammy.

She is greeted in Heaven by her husband, Donald L. Herbst who passed away in 1983; granddaughter, Stacey Horton; brothers, Paul and Lowell Alexander; and her companion, Norman Campbell.

Kathryn is survived by her daughters, Deborah Horton (Henry) of Fort Worth, Texas, Diana Lukin (John) of Mission Viejo, California, and Donna Irvin of Johnston, Iowa; son, Randall Herbst (Pam) of Hamilton County, Ohio; sister, Carole Hall (Jerry) of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.
