Barbara Mitchell

Barbara Ann Mitchell, 77, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 11, 2012, at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2011, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, with burial to follow at the Altoona Cemetery.

Barbara was born July 24, 1934, in Mishawaka, Indiana, the daughter of William and Irene (Radics) Raber. She proudly served her county in the United States Air Force. Barb retired from HyVee after over 20 years, followed by her employment at Prairie Meadows for over ten years.

Barb is survived by her children, Dan Mitchell, Connie (Jim Cate) Mitchell and Larry Mitchell; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; her brother Bill (Rose) Raber; her husbands siblings; and several extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack and her parents.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House in loving memory of Barb.
