Mary Ann Freel, 77, passed away Friday, December 9, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Mary Ann was born April 25, 1934, in Swan, Iowa, to Goldia (Wheeldon) and Harry Freel. She retired from Mid-American Energy as a customer service specialist. Mary Ann was a member of Runnells Christian Church. She was an avid reader and walker, and knew every dog in the neighborhood. She also enjoyed spending time at Prairie Meadows.
Mary Ann is survived by her siblings, Ruth Marks, Elsie Wade, Bill Freel (Sandy), Earl Freel (Marilyn), Martha McClure (Caryl), and David Freel; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Rex, Ray, Jack, Jim, Larry and Bob Freel; and sister, Betty Deer.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with a private family burial to follow at Lowman Cemetery in Runnells. The family will greet friends for an hour before the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Mary Ann.

We are so very sorry to hear of Ann's passing. She fought long and hard to overcome the cancer and we couldn't get over how healthy she looked after surgery and through all the treatments! She was a very tough lady. We're pretty certain there's going to be a new walking team in Heaven and they better be prepared to go long distances!! A big thanks to Caryl and Marty who went through this with her every step of the way. Rest in peace, Ann- you are finally Home.
