Mabel McElvogue, 96, was born January 1, 1915, in Des Moines, the daughter of George and Lyda (Pelton) Bice. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her home Saturday, December 3, 2011.
Mabel is survived by her son, David (Brigetta) McElvogue; many nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James ”Fred” McElvogue; her son, Stephen McElvogue; one brother; three sisters and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at Calvary Grace Tabernacle, 715 SE 14th Court. followed by burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Memorial contributions may be made to River of Life Assembly of God Church, 1117 E. 12th Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50316, in loving memory of Mabel.

David I am sorry for the loss of your mother. My dad and yours both worked together at Farm Bureau (FS Services) The two of us graduated from Tech High in 1969. At age 96 she had a nice long life and you should feel so great to have had her for so many years. Take care and may God bless.

Heaven has gained one of the angels of earth, Mabel. My prayers are with the family while you mourn. My heart rejoices with Mabel and her eternal reward for being a true follower and laborer for Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior! She now can see Him face to face.
