Robert M. Sherman

Robert Marion Sherman, 87, died Monday, November 28, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2011 at New Hope Assembly of God Church, 6800 Townsend Avenue, Urbandale with burial following at Glendale Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.

Robert was born October 29, 1924 in Milledgeville, IL to William and Myra Sherman. He worked as a tire builder at Firestone for 23 years and after that worked as a cook until he was 80. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Robert was loved by all and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife Keota Sherman; daughters, Nancy Kay Sherman and Patty Putnam of Des Moines, Jacki Sherman (Jack) Hilbert of El Dorado Hills, CA, Barbara Sherman (Michael Stiles) of Huxley; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie and sister, Florence Rytting.
