Joseph "Joe" Warren Proctor, Jr.
November 27, 2011
Joseph “Joe” Proctor, Jr., was born on April 4, 1934, and passed away peacefully on November 27, 2011, with family at his side.
Joe resided in Upstate New York for over 40 years and moved to Waukee, Iowa, to be closer to family during the last four years of his life. Wherever Joe lived he was admired for his friendliness, gentle nature and love for his family. He was a true gentleman in business and in life. A successful carpenter and contractor for decades, he owned and operated his own business in New York and built hundreds of buildings and remolded homes. Living either near Long Island or in Canandaigua, New York he was an avid fisherman and boater and had a passion for enjoying the outdoors. He graduated from State University of Farmingdale, N.Y. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War as a radar technician. He belonged to the Sons of the American Revolution, was a Master Mason belonging to the Masonic Temple for over 50 years, and volunteered.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ethel Proctor. He is survived by his children, daughter, Melissa (John) Carroll, his son, Capt. Russell (Michelle) Proctor, and his daughter, Allison Robbins; his grandchildren, Brendan, Conor, Meghan, Jonathan, Audrey and Joseph; a sister and brother in-law, Virginia and Leigh Ericson; a niece and nephew; and an extended family in New York, Texas, Colorado, Maine, Florida, Maryland and Nevada.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the library of Thomas Place, 560 SE Brick Drive, Waukee, Iowa, on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, with a scripture service to begin at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the SIDS Foundation in memory of Joe.

To the family Joe loved so much,
We would like to express our deepest sympathy and sadness over the death of such a wonderful gentleman. He was only able to attend our church for a relatively short time, but he is still remembered fondly by the congregation of East Bloomfield United Methodist. May you find much comfort in happy memories.

To all Family Members of Dear Joe Proctor
With our own tears please accept our deepest sympathy in the loss of your Dad, Grandfather, Brother and Friend. May time take the emptiness in your hearts and fill with his smile, humor, his love for his family and all of the good memories you have accumulated through the years together.
Where do we start to tell of our own love for Joe. We met Joe in East Bloomfield, New York through our United Methodist Church. For our family it was an instant connection on his first visit. There were picnics in the park, some Holiday Dinners at our home, walks, talks, events and fund raisers at church etc. When he moved to Iowa it was a deep loss for our family. We did not know a great deal about him but it was enough to really miss him. We promised to visit the following year which we did in September of 2009 and again in August of 2010. We would stay in our motor home at the Timberline campground in Waukee. Home cooked meals and campfires were enjoyed along with a great deal of laughter. We would visit his church, his apartment where we met his Harem (as I named these ladies), go out to dinners and other sites. We will always have our own special memories of such a great person. One of the nicest gentle man that we will ever been privileged to have shared a little bit of his touch.

I was very sad to read about Joe's passing. I knew him since the early 80's. I was in the building supply business and Joe was one of my customers. It was a pleasure to deal with Joe. He was a gentlemen and a good contractor. He always took care of his business.
I moved on and lost track of him. Back in Oct '98, Joe gave me a call. He heard that I was diagnosed with postrate cancer. He called me and, to my surprise, enformed me that he was a cancer survivor. His concern and his warmth stays with me today. We would see each other at our local Man to Man
meetings. We always had a nice chat. I am sorry for his passing, but my menories of a warm, caring gentleman will stay with me forever.
God Bless the family of this wonderful man.

Joe was a very big part of our lives on Prospect Street in Canandaigua, New York. We were fortunate to live next door to Joe for 10 years before he moved away. He was like another grandfather to our son, Tyler, and was often found pitching a baseball to him in our side yard. He was always eager to lend a hand to any of his neighbors, and we all missed him greatly when he moved away. Please know that we think of him often, and that you have our sincere sympathy. Your Dad, Grandpa and Brother was a wonderful, kind, and caring man who will be kindly remembered and missed by all.

Dear Allison and kids; how sorry we are to learn of your dad and grandpa's passing. How good of all of you to spend such great time with him and to take such good care of him in his final years. There is no greater blessing than a daughter and grand children loving and caring for their parent and grand parent. Our prayers are with you all. The Culvers
