Ellen Kusel

Ellen Kusel, 79, died Sunday, November, 20, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. She was born February 10, 1932, in Des Moines to William and Blanche Herker. She lived her entire life in Des Moines, retiring from Jacobsen Warehouse.

Ellen enjoyed quilting, doing genealogy, writing letters, reading, her callings at her church, traveling, and watching baseball and golf. She is survived by: her daughter Rebecca (Carl) Tiffany; her sons: John (Kelley), Gordon (Dianna), and Kevin (Candi); her daughter Pennie (Nicholas); 14 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; her sister, Beverly Lair; and her sisters-in-law Jacqueline Donovan, and Ellenene Witt; She was preceded in death by her husband Garland; her parents; two sisters; one brother; and her granddaughter Ashlee Conner.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 pm, Friday, November 25, 2011 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street, Altoona.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or the P. Buckley Moss Society in loving memory of Ellen.
