Service Details

Harold Louis Taylor, 85, died peacefully Friday, November 18, 2011 at Scottish Rite Park. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2011 at Grace United Methodist Church, 3700 Cottage Grove in Des Moines, with a private burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Harold was born June 4, 1926 to Lucile and Sidney Taylor. He was a lifetime resident of the Des Moines area. He graduated from East High School and following graduation served in the United States Navy during World War II. Harold’s career was working for his family’s business, Taylor Industries (Taylor Refrigeration). He belonged to the East Des Moines Kiwanis Club, East High Alumni Association, Grace United Methodist Church, and rang bells for the Salvation Army at holiday time. His leisure activities included bowling, golfing, fishing, singing, dancing, and especially spending time with his family.

Harold is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; his children: Bruce (Jeanne) Taylor of West Des Moines, Connie (Steve) Beasley of Urbandale, Julie (Bob) Sellers of Weatherford, TX, and Brent Taylor of Charlotte, NC; his grandchildren: Allison (B.J.) Stadtlander, Jaclyn Taylor, Meredith (J.R.) Boesen, Tricia Beasley, Matt (Kelly) Taylor, Tom Sellers, Leigh Sellers, Madison Taylor, and Lauren Taylor; five great-grandchildren; his brothers: Donald (Dolores) and Charles (Joyce); and his sister Marilyn (Jim) Sweeney.
