Dan Hutchens, 33, passed away unexpectedly November 16, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center.
Dan was born November 2, 1978, in Des Moines to Tracy and Becky (White) Hutchens. He was a graduate of North High School and Vatterott College. Dan worked as a medical software technician for Allscripts. He was a very talented musician and a member of the band Crawling South.
Dan is survived by his wife, Maria; parents, Tracy and Becky Hutchens; brother, Michael (Alison) Hutchens; sister, Jessica (Brad) Shanahan; paternal grandmother, Irene Hutchens; uncle, Richard Hutchens; nieces, Trudy, Peyton and Laly; and his nephew, Lucas.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2011at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Becky and Tracy,
I was so sadden by the loss of your son, Dan. My Dad told me when I was over to visit him. He evidently heard it from Luane. My prayers will be with you and your Family, knowing that our Lord and Savior will give you and your Family peace in this time of sorrow.

I worked with Dan at Fareway , he was a good kid, he always made me laugh . I was shocked to hear of his passing , I had recently ran into him and I gave him a big hug and it was funny because he did'nt recognize me , he thought I was some nut! I will never forget how kind he was, during the time he worked there my husband passed away , Dan was so kind, I very well remember my 1st day back at work he went out of his way to make me smile,no one eles at work realy knew what to say but Dan lightend my mood . Honestly he touched my heart in a way I can never explain, he made me smile on one of my lowest days. May God Bless all of his family and please know he touched my life , I will never forget that sweet boy who helped me smile.

I enjoyed his company and his friendship and loved his inspired enthusiasm for music. Hutchens Family,
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family during this terrible time. I have known Dan for many years and I have many fond memories of him. He was a great friend to me and regret that we didn't stay in better touch over the years. Recently, we had reconnected via Facebook, and I am saddened that I wasn't able to get together with him. Dan will ALWAYS remembered!

I have known Dan since he started working at Medinotes. Over that time him and I became close friends and I will miss sitting down with him discussing the latest technology, game or musician. Dan and I never really did much outside of work but I got to know him well and he was a good man who loved his family and friends. My heart and prayers are with you all as we struggle through this tragedy.
