Deborah Lynn Hardenbrook, 60, passed away at her home November 14, 2011.
Deborah was born May 5, 1951 in Des Moines to Elston and Elnora (Halterman) Hardenbrook. She had been a waitress at Riccellis Restaurant, managed the food concessions for the Iowa Cub’s at Sec Taylor Stadium and owned and operated Hardenbrook State Fair Food Concessions. Deborah enjoyed arts and crafts and family gatherings. She was a member of the Iowa State Fair 1854 Society.
Deborah is survived by her son Dustin (Chris) Beener; grandson, Dakota Beener; sister-in-law, Doris Hardenbrook; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jean Fraaken, Sue McBlain, Connie Cave and Joan Cady; brother, Elston Hardenbrook; and niece, Dana Driver.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. followed by inurnment at Resthaven Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation in loving memory of Deborah.

As the years pass, as family and friends depart, I reminisce on past events to help me with the loss. To be as optimistic as possible when thinking of the times I was able to see each person smile. Aunt Debbie's smile was flawless, was kind of contagious, I can see her as I type this. Sometimes when you remember that you could have seen some loved ones more often, it makes you wonder. Well, I know when i read from John chapter 5 verse 21 it states "For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to Them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will." I imagine as people with the glow and apparent happiness like Aunt Debbie, They are chosen to continue in the kingdom of heaven. I give my deepest sympathies to Dustin Beener and hope he is doing ok.

Some of my best childhood memories include Aunt Debbie. I remember traveling to Iowa every Easter, coloring Easter eggs, and enjoying time together. Aunt Debbie gave me my first job at the Fair and the ballpark. She showed me how to work hard and love every minute of it!
I think what I will always remember about Aunt Debbie is her smile and her laugh. She had a smile that could fill the room and a laugh that made others smile.
Dustin, Chris and Dakota: Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I found this quote and it made me think of you and your mom. Mother love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible. Her love will be with you for all eternity.

You were such a fun sister-in-law to have. Even though I have gone to the Fair as long as I can remember, you introduced me to the "Carney Life". What fun we had working at the stands in Des Moines then Nebraska & Tulsa. I have great memories of laughing and goofing on all the people. Things changed and we lost touch but I have memories that will last forever.
Hang in there Dustin. Your Mom loved you very much and just because you can't see her doesn't mean you won't be looking over you the rest of your life. It's a bond you can't break.

Debbie, A friend is a gift we give to our self. I can't imagine what my life would have been without you. You were the sister I never had. We got into a little bit of trouble but had a whole lot of fun. You had a larger than life smile and personality to match. You were a caretaker, loved Dustin and his family, were a workhorse, and were always there for others. I moved to Colorado but you never left my heart... I love you, Judy Hayes Foreman, Ft. Hey Dustin, I was very sorry to hear about Debbie passing. She always had such a friendly and warm smile. Even though we did not see her much lately, she always treated us like we had just seen her yesterday. A special gift indeed.
She reminds me a lot of my sister Vicki whom we dearly miss. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and we pray that the God of the universe gives you peace through his son Jesus Christ.
