John Tolson

John Edward Tolson, Jr., was born August 15, 1946 in Huntsville, Missouri, the son of John Sr. and Mary (Smith) Tolson. He passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family Sunday, November 13, 2011.

John retired from the City of Des Moines after 38 years of faithful service.

John is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Alta Mae Johnson; sons, John Edward Tolson, III (Terri Hartness), Dean (Dawn) Kelly and Alton (Perris) Sterling; many grandchildren; two brothers; five sisters; many nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Jeanetha Bailey and Presonna Lynn Tolson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
