Service Details
Terry Allen was born May 16, 1946 in Manhattan, Kansas and passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011. A celebration of life memorial visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
Terry graduated from the University of Missouri at Kansas City and received her MBA from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. She was a managing director of the Financial Valuation Group. Terry was a CPA, was accredited in business valuation (ABV), and taught business valuation world-wide.
Terry was a loving, caring and generous person who was devoted to her family. She valued the natural world and lived her life to the fullest. She will be greatly missed by all.
Terry is survived by her husband of 43 years, David Allen; sons, Matthew (Heather) Allen, Christopher (Melissa Allen-Branham) Allen, Andrew (Whitney) Allen; grandchildren, Elizabeth Allen, Chloe Allen, David Branham; brother, Richard Jacoby; sisters, Paula Donham, Lynn Holec and mother, Lois Jacoby.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to Parkinsons Disease Foundation

Terry gives of herself, with a generous spirit; she has high standards of both ethics & professionalism, exudes a strong commitment to family and is loyal to friends and co-workers. The admirable spirit she brought to her life will live on in and for the many people she touched. It certainly mattered that Terry Allen was here among us.
She seemed almost driven to fill any leadership void that appeared in her world...and she did so very often and very well...Her absence is certainly a loss for many; her example will hopefully inspire others to step forward to lead, as her passing leaves a void that needs to be filled in many places and for many people.

Terry will be greatly missed, she was such a wonderful person. I had the pleasure of getting to know her personally and professionally. I knew Terry through ASA for 20 some years. She was a great person as well as a dedicated ASA member, willing to share her knowledge and skills with all. She worked both through the Iowa ASA chapter and the international organization promoting strong business ethics. My sympathy to her family, she will be missed.

I extend my sympathy to David and to Terry's family.This is difficult news for all who were priviledged to know her.
I knew Terry through ASA service. Terry was a tireless worker for appraisers and inspired me (and others I am sure) by her passion and intellect. I looked up to Terry and sought to learn from her straightforward approach and her integrity.

I had the pleasure of working with Terry at McGladrey & Pullen in Des Moines in the late 1990s. She was not only an excellent valuation professional that worked tirelessly towards the betterment of our profession, but was an even better human being. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to work with her and get to know her. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this time.

I knew Terry as fellow member of the American Society of Appraisers, as an instructor, and as a business woman. I truly appreciated Terry's insight, thoughtfulness, caring, and compassion with how she interacted with everyone. Having recently retired as an IRS Territory Manager responsible for 14 states in the Midwest, I have had the opportunity to meet and work with a number of people. Terry is truly someone that had the ability to touch many people very positively in so many ways.
No words of mine can truly comfort you at this time. Please take some small comfort in knowing that there are many people like me praying for you and your family at this time. Her spirit lives on in you. I can honestly say that I am a better person for having had the opportunity to meet, know, and work with Terry. God bless you all.

Terry taught two of the business valuation courses I took at through the ASA. She was kind, patient and knowledgeable about valuation and she liked teaching others. She also was a tireless champion of the ASA and made numerous contributions to the organization and its members. I respected her and she will be missed by many.
