Ruth Pearson

Ruth E. Pearson, 92, died Friday, November 11, 2011, at her home. She was born on March 16, 1919, in Highland Center, Iowa to Rex and Vera (Dickens) Mefford.
She was a current resident of Courtyard Estate Assisted Living Community at Hawthorne Crossing in Bondurant.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Mary (Greg) Lagerquist and Janet (John) Byers; five grandchildren, Michael (Karen) Byers, Michelle (Eric) Schroeder, Mark (Kelly) Byers, Erin Lagerquist and Tyler Lagerquist; six great grandchildren, Chris Byers, Nate Schroeder, Alex Byers, Zach Schroeder, Jon Byers and Alicia Byers; sisters, Helen Schlenker and Maxine Schmidt; and brother, Earl (Joan) Mefford and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, C. William Pearson; son, Rex W. Pearson; and sister, Donna Hunnell.

Ruth was a member of My Brother’s Keeper of Mitchellville, Centennial United Methodist Church of Ivy, Red Hat Society, United Methodist Women, Iowa Plowing Association and a 25 year 4 H leader and board member.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, November 14, 2011, at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Avenue South in Mitchellville. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, with burial to follow at Mitchellville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Centennial United Methodist Church of Ivy in loving memory of Ruth.
