Edna was the only daughter born to Benjamin Franklin and Alta Angeline Dougherty in Boonville, Iowa on January 31, 1915. Edna graduated from Valley High School in 1932 and married Lawrence Francie Consolver of Des Moines on September 13, 1934. They had three children, Rose Marie, Larry Gene and Debra Lynn.

Edna and Lawrence operated Superior Oil Co. Service Station & Garages between the viaducts on SW 7th in Des Moines, at SE 14th and Hartford across from the drive-in theatre by Polson’s Auction, and in Indianola by the livestock sale barn on the south edge of town for many years. Edna also worked for Look Magazine, Hawkeye Insurance and Bankers Life until she retired in 1980.

Edna was always actively involved in the community . During WWII, she helped people grow Victory Gardens. She was also very active in PTA and served two terms as President of the PTA at Nathan Weeks Jr. High School. Edna volunteered for the March of Dimes and was an active 4H leader in Eastern Polk County.

Edna was an active member of the churches she attended: Clifton Heights Presbyterian, Indianola Heights Christian Church and Rising Sun Church of Christ.

Edna is survived by her children, Larry (Marilyn) Consolver and Debbie (Bob) Cooper; son-in-law, Ralph Shivers; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Lawrence (1969), daughter, Rose Marie (Rosie Shivers); three brothers Clarence (Clara), Bob (Dorothy) and Frank (Mabel), two grandsons (Kenny and Jason); a great-grandson (Samuel); and her parents (Benjamin Franklin and Alta Angeline Phillips Doughterty).

Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Rising Sun Church of Christ followed by a service at 11:30 a.m.
