Colleen Van Drimmelen passed away November 8th, 2011 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. She was born July 11, 1924 in Fairfield, Iowa to Raymond and Glee McCleary Anderson. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1942. After graduation, she moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa and married Dale Van Drimmelen on August 20th, 1943 at the Christian Church in Oskaloosa.

Colleen was a bookkeeper for Meadow Gold Dairy in Oskaloosa for 15 years. In 1963, she moved with her family to Newton, Iowa and was employed as a unit secretary at Skiff Hospital. She retired in 1985 but continued to be active, volunteering at Veteran’s Hospital in Knoxville. She also performed volunteer work for RSVP and the YMCA in Newton where she was named Volunteer of the Year in 1996 and was presented a special service award in 2000. She was a member of the Ashland Methodist Church in Ashland, Missouri.

Colleen is survived by her husband, Dale; daughter, Dea Howard of Altoona, Iowa; son, Steve (Rebecca) Van Drimmelen of Hartsburg, Missouri; foster daughter, Jennifer Endsley Nesler of Champaign, Illinois; three granddaughters, Darci, Diana, and Dawn; eight great grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Draper of Osage, Wyoming. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, John.

Visitation will be at the Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St. SW, Altoona, Iowa from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2011. A brief graveside service will follow.
