Pauline Eloise Cumpston

Pauline Eloise Cumpston, 94, died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at St. Paul, MN. Pauline was born August 1, 1917 in Des Moines, Iowa to William & Elisabeth Ott Weissinger and was their last surviving child.

Until 2009, Pauline lived her entire life on Des Moines’ eastside where she graduated from East High School in 1936 and married William Cumpston on October 21, 1939. After being raised a Lutheran, Pauline joined Union Park United Methodist Church in 1940 and always enjoyed the fellowship from her church friends and was especially grateful for their love and care for her and her family. Pauline worked for almost 20 years in the Des Moines schools and was lovingly known as “the cookie lady” to hungry East High students. Pauline was very athletic, loved to go fishing and enjoyed several sports.

Pauline was preceded in death by her husband Bill, oldest son Keith Allen, granddaughter Rebecca Cram, 3 sisters and 3 brothers. Survivors include 3 sons - Lawrence (Lisa) of South St. Paul, MN, Dennis (Sari) of Orlando, FL and Alan (Pulani) of Honolulu and 2 daughters – Phyllis Cram (Richard) of Austin, TX and Diana of St. Paul, MN. Pauline was proud of all 8 of her grandchildren Kirk (Yoly), Kristina, Elizabeth (Jeff), Annamarie (Jason), Mahina (Lucas), Leigh (Eric), Kainoa and Trygve. Also mourning Pauline are her 10 great-grandchildren Juan, Erik, Jaden, Dominic, Katherine, Xavier, Joey, Mary Frances, Josephine and Kealohilani. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, too.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street with burial following at Laurel Hill Cemetery. The family will receive condolences from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton’s.
