Norman Wayne "Poopie" Davis, Jr.

Norman Wayne “Poopie” Davis, Jr., 68, passed away November 3, 2011, at the VA Hospital in Des Moines.

Poopie was born February 9, 1943, in Des Moines to Norman and Louise Davis, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from North American Van Lines where he had been a truck driver for many years. Poopie enjoyed bowling, singing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his sons, Norman Wayne Davis, III, Rodney Lee Davis, Robert Leroy Davis and Scott Alan Russell; daughters, Lynnette Ekman and Lisa Hillsenbeck, all of Des Moines; brother, Kenneth Richard Davis; sisters, Suzette Davis and Rebecca VanHorn; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stanley; brother, Chris; grandson, Isaac Ekman; and great-granddaughter, Jacquelen Holley.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
