Jay R. Lavine

Jay R. LaVine, 78, passed away October 29, 2011 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital.

Jay was born December 1, 1932 in Des Moines to Russell and Irene (George) LaVine. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Des Moines firefighter until his retirement in 1983. Jay was a Mason and a member of the American Legion.

Jay is survived by his wife, Joan; son, Jerry; daughter, Julie (Mark); grandchildren, Joscelind, Jennifer, Jordan, Jaeger, Jacob and Caitlin; and great-grandchildren, Jaicee, Luciana, Charlie and Dillon. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
