Doyle Smith

Doyle B. Smith, 51, passed away Saturday, April 28 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center shortly after being diagnosed with brain cancer. A celebration of Doyle’s life will be held Wednesday May 2nd at 4:30 PM at the Airport Holiday Inn, 6111 Fleur Drive. Doyle’s family will greet friends following the service at the Holiday Inn. There will also be a visitation from 4 to 8pm Tuesday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home.
Doyle was born March 9, 1956 in Des Moines to Georgia and Darwin Smith. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1974. At the age of 7 Doyle began playing music and his love for music continued throughout his whole life. In the 1970’s and 1980’s he traveled around the country playing music. In the 1990’s Doyle was a real estate broker for Darwin Smith Realty. In 1995 he took over the business eventually moving the Darwin Smith Realty business to Norwalk. He was a member of the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors and a member of the grievance committee of that organization.
Doyle enjoyed boating and spending time at his lake home at Diamond Head lake outside of Dexter. He loved being with his family and friends.
Doyle is survived by his loving wife, Kate Hymans-Smith, his sons, Dustin and Dylan, his sisters, DeLesta (Dan) Weigand and Summer (Brad) Fuller (Smith) and the extended Mees family. He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Connie (Mees) and his parents.
Memorials are suggested to his family in loving memory of Doyle.
