Nouth Somsavath

Nouth Somsavath, 72, went home to be with the Lord Friday, October 21, 2011 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Changfong and Simoe Phiramoon on December 12, 1938 in Chiangmai, Thailand. She married her husband, Sargeant Major Vath Somsavath September 15, 1962 and they later moved to the United States in 1980, residing in Guymon, Oklahoma. After his passing in 1983, she moved her family to Des Moines, Iowa in May of 1986.

She is survived by eleven children, Charanh (Thailand), Phatchalin (Thailand), Vichai (Thailand), Michael Somsavath, Joe (Tae) Somsavath (Virginia), Khamla Somsavath (Texas), Kevin (Toui) Somsavath, Khamlei (Sou) Somsavath, Khamdeng (Orlando) McClain, Noi (Nikone) Dara, and Stephanie Ickes (Texas); twenty eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

She was baptized in Jesus’ name and received the Holy Ghost at Christ Apostolic Temple. Her hobbies included traveling, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandma, great grandma, and friend. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 121 NW 60th Avenue with burial to follow the service at Glendale Cemetery, 4909 University Avenue.
