Violet Landers passed away on October 19, 2011, after a short
illness.

Violet was born on August 31, 1928, in Des Moines to Charles and Madge Jordan. She married James Landers on May 27, 1946. They enjoyed their life together for 61 years.

She worked for Meredith/Burda Printing, retiring in 1987 after 25 years of service. Violet loved bowling, softball, golf, the outdoors, camping and boating. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Those left to cherish Violet’s memory are her children, Sally Cone of Des Moines, James (Mary Ann) Landers of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and Dee (Kevin) Dowd of Bondurant; her five grandsons, Brian (Paige) Landers, Mark Landers, Kyle Landers, Paul Landers and John Dowd; one great-granddaughter, Chloe; her sister, Virginia Wambsgans; and her brothers, Marion “Bud” (Vicki) Jordan and James Jordan; and friend, Lloyd Clark.

Violet was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 2007; her parents; sisters, Kathryn Graves and Gladys Henry; and brother Charles Jordan.

Visitation will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A Memorial Service will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A burial will take place at a later date at Glendale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League or Hospice Care of Iowa in loving memory of Violet.
