Deborah K. Grover passed away Friday, October 14, 2011, at her home.
She was born December 23, 1950 to Carroll and Leona. She graduated early from high school with honors; Debbie was very active throughout her schooling. After high school she took some courses in college. Although she lived half of her life in Des Moines, she also lived in California, Florida, and Chicago. Debbie loved traveling and camping. She also enjoyed reading the Bible daily. From raising three children of her own, Debbie enjoyed working with children, and even coached youth soccer.
Debbie is survived by her son, Matthew Peterson; daughter, Dawn Schaefer; daughter, Jasmine Grover; brother, Larry (Jackie) Christensen; brother, Steven Christensen; sister, Sherry (Marlin) Graham; granddaughter, Allison Schaefer; grandson, Zachary Peterson; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and step-mother, Phyllis Christensen.
She was preceded in death by her mom, Leona; dad, Carroll; brother, Jimmy Christensen; grandmothers and grandfathers; aunts and uncles; sister-in-law, Fawn Christensen; and brother-in-law, Alvin Parker.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Debbie.

We were terrifically caught off guard at the news of Aunt Debbie's passing away. We can only imagine the grief, and the pain you are experiencing now. We understand that words of comfort might seem flat right now, there was little that comforted us when faced with the loss of Demetri. We have been, and will continue to lift you up to our Lord, that he may provide you comfort, and faith, and hope during this trying time. Please know that our tears are mixed in with yours in commiseration.
We firmly believe that Aunt Debbie is resting in the love our our Lord, and we are comforted knowing that one day, all of us will be able to join her there.
Yahweh, Elohim, Jehovah, Adoni. You alone reign supreme on high. All your creation sings of your abundant love, and we are thankful for your tireless bounty you extend to all of our for our needs. Our family has experienced a tremendous loss and there is a vast void where Aunt Debbie's light once was. She was the salt of the earth, offering your hope and comfort to everyone, sharing your good news, and your love at every chance she got. She never lost her flavor, her zeal or her might. You have called her to you, at a time that is perfect, as all your timing ever is, yet this has caused a great emptiness in the lives, hearts, minds and souls of those whose lives she has touched and helped mold. We ask that you send down your Holy Spirit to be a constant comforter to all those who are in need at this time. We ask that you cover them with your love, that you bolster their faith, and greatly increase their hope in your good news that we will all be resurrected at Christ's return, and once again be in communion with all you have called home to you.
In the name of Christ we send up this prayer.
