Arleene Viola Fagg died on Thursday, October 13, 2011. She was born October 13, 1909, in Abbott, Iowa, to Arthur L. and Catherine M. Gardner. The family moved to Eldora in 1923 where she graduated from high school in 1927. She then completed two years of study at a business college in Marshalltown and was employed in the office of the Hardin County Auditor until she married Ned Fagg in 1932. To this union a son, George, was born in 1934.
Arleene enjoyed her family and friends, playing bridge, serving as a church school teacher and as a volunteer at the local hospital and library.
She is survived by her son, George; six grandchildren, Martha, Thomas (Rochelle), Ned (Christine), Susan, George (Debra), and Sarah (Mick); and twelve great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; two sisters, Ruth and Beulah; and her daughter-in-law, Jane Wood Fagg.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Eldora City Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2011, and burial will follow next to her husband of 45 years.

Condolences on the passing of your mother, grandmother. Just happened across it on the internet. Her mother, Catherine, was my grandfather's sister.

My sincere sympathy on the loss of your mother. She was a good friend and neighbor of my mother, Agnes (Kusserow) Dobbrunz, when they both lived at the Carriage House in Eldora. They had also known each other in high school, I believe.
