Service Details
Berta Leib, 87, died October 11, 2011 at her residence in Ankeny. She was born February 19, 1924 in Regen, Bavaria, to Karl and Maria Zaglauer.
She came to the United States as a German immigrant in 1956, and was a proud U.S. citizen.
Berta is survived by her sons, Hans Zaglauer and Victor (Karen) Zajcew; daughter, Brigitta “Getty” (Juan) Zajcew; step-daughter, Emma (Franz) Ringyl; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, five sisters, and a brother.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to neighbor and friend, Richard and Fran.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Friday, October 14, 2011, at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dodge House, Camp Dodge, (photo ID required upon admittance).
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Berta.

Hello dear Hans, dear Victor, my dear Brigitte,
and all the loved ones of Berta.
We are very saddened by her death. Our heartfelt condolences,
we think of you in the heavy hours. However, we are grateful to Berta met in person.
She was very sweet to me / us.
I met her for the first time at Frankfurt airport.
There, she told me her life story. I was very moved.
Even in her native USA, she has made ??us feel very welcome.
We are happy to think back to the good times with Hans,
Brigitte / Family + Vikor / Tanya and family, etc.
It was a wonderful time.
Especially love greetings from my mother Henny, we have long talked about Hans and Berta. It has it very moving. Also from her cordial sympathy.

Dear Family of Berta,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved Mother. Today, when I picked up my Father to take to the New Horizon Adult Center in Ankeny, I told him that I had seen Berta's name, in the paper, but did not see the obituary. He and I talked about the day's when your family lived on Des Moines Street and the years we knew each other.
I was happy to get your condulence when my own mother died this past May. My prayers go out to all of you.
Just a note to tell you that I was at Glendale this morning when a service was in progress. I was visiting my mother's grave and walking around with a friend visiting other sites. So, now I feel like I was there for your mother also.
