Service Details

Wayne S. Decker, 75, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Mercy Hospice. A memorial service will be held Monday at 10 am at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Wayne was born July 8, 1931 in Marshalltown to Lucille and William Decker. Wayne spent his life working as a Journeyman Printer. During his life he worked for Commercial printing and Downey Printing. Wayne served in the National Guard and was activated during the Korean War. Wayne was a Union Steward for the Printers Union, he was a member of the American Legion Post 374 and the Early Wheels car club, where he was awarded the “Jim Harrigan Memorial award. Wayne helped start a corvair club and served as its president for several years. Wayne volunteered with his wife for the Blood Center as a deliverer. Wayne enjoyed their two dogs Buddy and Teddy, traveling, camping, and being outdoors. He loved spending time with his family.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn, his children, Doug, Sandie McVey, Bill and twins Don and Dave, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Pat and brother, Roy.
