Cody Alan West, 18, died on Monday October 10, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, from injuries sustained in a tragic motorcycle accident.
Cody was born January 10, 1993, to Martin Ameigh and Tina West in Des Moines. He graduated from East High School and was working at Elliott Enterprises. Cody enjoyed riding motorcycles and trading vehicles.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with a fundraising ride to follow the service. Family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
Cody is survived by his 6-month-old son, Brayden Sandoval-West; mother, Tina (Will) Bland; father, Martin (Mindy) Ameigh; maternal grandparents, Crystal Bainter and Glen West; paternal grandparents, Jerome and Clara Ameigh; great-grandmother, Bernice Gillaspy; siblings, Matthew (Tiffany Elliott) West, Bryce Bland, Megan, Corben, Daytona, and Jaysee, Ameigh; mother of his son, Maria Sandoval; godparents, Rick and Tammy Thoren; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
He is preceded in death by maternal step-grandfather, Steve Bainter; and cousin, Kelly Gillaspy-Acord.
Memorial contributions will be received by the family.

There are no words that anyone can say that can ease the pain you are feeling at this time. We can't understand why something this tragic had to happen, especially to someone so young. Now is the time to lean on your family and friends and know that they are there for you. Cody will always be with you as he will live on forever in your heart.

We are so very saddened of the loss of Mr. Cody West. He was a bright young man, who was taken so early in life. We have never got to meet Cody, but he seemed so sweet and kind. Rest in Peace Cody,

Marty, Mindy, and kids....There are no words to take away the hurt you feel or to ease any of the pain. I can not imagine what you are going through, but know that I love you and I will be here for you always.
Tina and family....I am so deeply sorry. No parent should ever have to feel the utter helplessness and hurt you are feeling.

Cody , I didn't know you personally, or your Mom, But know some of your family on FB and through my son Michael West,
You are truly Loved and you will be so missed,

I can't sleep with out thinking he is still alive, I have trouble with school because he used to help me out and I had good grades, He wanted the best for me, and now he is gone, he can't see how horrible I'm living with out him sleeping in the same house as me, I seen Cody Monday morning at 8:30AM I heard his voice... The last words and stunt he did was, Kissed my forehead and said I love you little sister, I miss you Cody Alan West, all Prayers are with you, I love you big brother and I will never forget you.
Just a couple of days before the wreck happened you got wasted and you was using this weird kid's voice saying " That's my sister Bobbi, And this is my dog Maddie" then you laid down and started to puke all over the floor, You're son's growing up with out a father..
